The film was made during my one year of retirement while flying for Calfire. (1985) There were many USN Fighter high rollers @ NKX who were overseeing/consulting and directing the dialog and the chain of events. (Check the credits) John Lehman had his finger on the pulse because he knew this film may do more to promote the US Navy than could be imagined. D-Hose, checking in to VF-101, returned from retirement in Feb 1986,,, John Lehman had a 'blow out' at his beach house in VA Beach celebrating the movie: Never seen so many Admirals at a social function. D-Hose, as usual, was very low key and just kinda blended into the woodwork. The movie captured the 'Fighter Pilot', spirit, aggressiveness, will to win and unsurpassed ego! From the music through the script it was exceptionally well done. It should be noted, that during the film, Tom Cruise after a back seat ride in a Tomcat(with Bozo, Abel), stepped out green, weak kneed and with 2 bags chuck full of barf! The one shaky scene was the jet wash burner blow out in Zone 5 over the Borrego Desert followed by the flat spin that frizbeed them all the way to the Pacific Ocean! John was correct..... The Navy, for the following eight years, had exponentially more flight training applicants than the Airfarce. VR Hoser
PS: After Tom's Friday afternoon Turkey flight, that evening, in the WOXOF at NKX, he was officially given the following fighter, life long personal, 'Call Sign'..... "Blowchowski"
"Ski", for short! To this day, if you see him in a croud, yell out "hey Ski"! ..... Tom's head will snap around in your direction! Kinda like doing the O'l,,,, "SSSST...SSSST!" on the street in Olongapo! HaaarrR!
亮点:汤姆·克鲁斯在电影拍摄过程中曾坐在F-14的后座飞过几次,当他从飞机里出来的时候,脸色发青、两腿发软,还提着整整两大袋呕吐物……
