I was a system application engineer at Renesas Technology, a joint venture of Mitsubishi and Hitachi, which were both pretty screwed up by the financial crisis. The company had an internal discussion with us earlier in February summoning voluntary termination of contract, and promised a considerable compensation. I took the offer and left by the end of March. They kept their promise.
Then at 7th April, I received a phone call from ATMEL Shanghai. A lady notified me that a telephone interview would be underway which involved the position as 'capacitive sensing application engineer' that I applied for several days before. This was a good news to me 'cause A - ATMEL is a world's prestigious corporation headquartered in the U.S; B - 'Capacitive sensing' was the term defined for a type of multi-touch technology, sort of like which was implemented on iPhone. I'm looking at a bright future in this technology.
However, it's almost been a month, although I called back a week later and the same lady assured me that the department manager was working on the schedule, I didn't get further notice ever since. Is this how U.S corporations run their business? I presume I need to call her again. If I finally make my way in, I'd probably earn a chance to join you in eating crabs. |
